2013 Chevrolet Impala
Mileage108,960Service Date3/19/2026Services Performed- *** AFTER FURTHER DIAGNOSIS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY WAS MISPRINTED, WHICH RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE’S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BEING POWERED IN REVERSE POLARITY. THIS CONDITION CAUSED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL FAILURES THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. DURING INITIAL TESTING, ALL BLOWN FUSES WERE REPLACED AND A USED BATTERY FROM OUR SHOP WAS INSTALLED FOR TESTING PURPOSES ONLY. A TEMPORARY JUMPER WIRE WAS ALSO INSTALLED INSIDE THE FUSE BOX, WHICH IS CURRENTLY BURNT OUT, IN ORDER TO RESTORE TEMPORARY POWER AND VERIFY THAT THE VEHICLE COULD TURN ON. AS A RESULT OF THE REVERSE POLARITY EVENT, SEVERAL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WERE FOUND TO BE DAMAGED (BURNT), INCLUDING THE FUSE BOX AND THE SHIFT LOCK MECHANISM, WHICH IS CURRENTLY PREVENTING THE KEY FROM BEING REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. DUE TO THE NATURE OF REVERSE POLARITY DAMAGE, MULTIPLE ELECTRONIC MODULES, SENSORS, AND CONTROL UNITS MAY HAVE BEEN AFFECTED. IT IS COMMON FOR ADDITIONAL FAILURES TO APPEAR AFTER INITIAL REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED AND THE SYSTEM IS FULLY RESTORED. WE RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT OF THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS FROM THE DEALERSHIP AS A STARTING POINT: BATTERY FUSE BOX BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SHIFT LOCK ?? IMPORTANT NOTE: REVERSE BATTERY CONNECTION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO MULTIPLE ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS AND CONTROL MODULES. ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSIS MAY BE REQUIRED AFTER THE INITIAL REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED, AND FURTHER COMPONENT FAILURES MAY BE IDENTIFIED ONCE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS FULLY RESTORED.
